System Requirements for Microsoft® Dynamics GP 10.0

This page contains the minimum client hardware requirements, server recommendations and Terminal Server minimum hardware requirements supported by Microsoft Business Solutions. The following server recommendations are not minimum server requirements. The requirements and recommendations are based on experience with many different installations. Users may need to increase these requirements due to environmental factors to achieve individual performance expectations.

4. When you deploy a system in a virtual environment, make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space to avoid performance problems. Server Recommendations:

Review each Customer Profile below to determine what profile best fits the user count, modules used and transaction volume for your environment. Use that Customer Profile as a recommendation for your server hardware implementation.

Customer Profile 1

Use the following guidelines if you:

  • Use only Financial Series modules
  • Have between 0-5 concurrent users for Microsoft SQL Server or for MSDE 2000/Express
  • Process fewer than 250 transactions per day
  • No web applications in use
  • Peer to Peer Environment

2. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 mainstream support ends 4/8/2008. Click HERE to go to the Support Lifecycle Page for Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
3. The Easy Print functionality of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is not supported.
4. Refer to the Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 Support Matrix under note #7 below to verify all products used are compatible.
5. MSDE 2000 and SQL 2005 Express can be installed on a non-server operating system, however it is recommended to install on a server operating system. 
The only non-server operating system supported for MSDE 2000 is Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 2.  The only non-server operating system supported for SQL 2005 Express is Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 2 or Microsoft Windows Vista.

6. Make sure processors can be upgraded
7. Additional disks will improve Microsoft SQL Server performance. Recommend using a dual-channel fast and wide SCSI-2 controller.
8. When you deploy a system in a virtual environment, make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space to avoid performance problems.
